Children's Primary Care
Main ContentCombined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics
Physicians specializing in this area, also known as "med-peds," provide care for the newborn to the geriatric patient, including growth and development, acute care and the management of complex medical conditions.
In addition to four years of medical school, med-ped physicians have completed an additional four-year training (residency) program combining extensive training and board certification in both internal medicine and pediatrics.
Thanks to their their dual training, med-ped physicians are not limited to a certain age range for their patients. Instead, they are trained to provide primary care for all ages, allowing a continuity of care across the patient's life span.
